Carlotta" chair, 1966.
Satin-finished and chromed metal with hand-braided leather back.
Discontinued piece. In very good condition.

The "Carlotta" chair, designed in 1966 by Antonio Citterio for Flexform, is an early example of his characteristic approach: combining modern lines with meticulous craftsmanship and high quality materials. Its satin-finished, chrome-plated metal frame is balanced by a hand-braided leather back, which adds texture.
Antonio Citterio studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan, and in 1972 he began his activity as a consultant and designer in the field of industrial design. Between 1987 and 1996 he worked with Terry Dwan at Studio Citterio/Dwan. From 1990 to 1992 he taught at the Domus Academy in Milan, and from 1993 to 1995 he was an external examiner in furniture design at the Royal School in London, before accepting a teaching post at the Sapienza University in Rome in 1997. In 1999, together with Patricia Viel, he founded Antonio Citterio and Partners, a multidisciplinary studio in Milan. He later taught at the University of Italian Switzerland, where he has held a chair since 2006. His designs are currently part of prestigious collections such as that of the MoMA in New York. Architect and designer Antonio Citterio, who lives and works in Milan, has been collaborating with Vitra since 1988. Together they have produced a series of chairs and office systems, as well as products for the Vitra Home Collection. The Citterio Collection is constantly expanding.
