DESCRIPTION

Coffee table; France, 1970s.
Pine wood and four panels in black laminate.
In very good condition with light marks of use.
Measurements: 30 x 90 x 90 cm.
This table is aesthetically inscribed within the functional and sober design characteristic of French furniture of the seventies. Made of pine wood with four panels in black laminate, it reflects a period in which European design sought a balance between material warmth and formal rationality.
During the 1970s in France, domestic furniture adopted a refined aesthetic, influenced by both late modernism and the rise of Scandinavian design. The use of pine, an accessible wood with visible grain and a warm tone, responds to a desire for naturalness and structural honesty. The straight lines, the robust section of the legs and the visible assembly emphasize construction and solidity, values appreciated in the design of the time. The contrast between the light wood and the four black laminate panels on the surface introduces a geometric play.
