This iconic "Djinn" armchair, designed by Olivier Mourgue at the height of futuristic design, is one of the most emblematic pieces of the Space Age aesthetic.

Its fluid and almost anthropomorphic silhouette made it a symbol of pop modernism, achieving worldwide fame after appearing in Stanley Kubrick's film "2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968).

Mourgue conceived the Djinn series as furniture inspired by shifting, sensual forms, a soft sculpture suspended between the organic and the inanimate. The result is a radically contemporary piece, capable of bringing character, history and sophistication to any interior.

Olivier Mourgue trained at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, graduating in 1960. After working in Stockholm for Nordiska Kompaniet, in 1963 he began his collaboration with the firm Airborne International, where he created his famous Djinn series (1965).

In 1966 he established his own studio in Paris, developing furniture and interior design projects for important French institutions and companies, as well as visionary proposals such as the futuristic interior of Visiona for Bayer AG. His work is today an essential reference of pop modernism and experimental design of the 1960s.
