GERD BØGELUND (Denmark, 1923-1987).
Bowl "Solfatara".
Glazed stoneware.
Marked on the base.

This bowl has a refined and balanced form, characteristic of post-war Scandinavian ceramics, where the formal simplicity is enriched by an elaborate surface treatment. The solfatara glaze, with earthy tones and irregular shades, generates an almost volcanic effect, with chromatic variations that add depth and uniqueness to the piece.
Gerd Bøgelund was an outstanding Danish ceramist linked to Royal Copenhagen, where she developed a production focused on the research of glazes and textures. His work is part of the modern tradition of Nordic design, heir to figures such as Axel Salto, combining formal rigor and intense material-chromatic expressiveness.
