DESCRIPTION
FERDINAND SOLERE (France, 20th century) for SOLR.
Table lamp mod. 202, 1960s.
Metal.
Measurements: 36 x 27 x 87 cm.
The table lamp model 202 by Ferdinand Solère for SolR is a piece clearly linked to the technical and professional field, originally conceived as a work lamp for architects and draftsmen in the 50s and 60s. It is characterized by an articulated and adjustable structure, with a telescopic system that allows adjusting both the height and the inclination of the arm and the spotlight, adapting precisely to different lighting needs. This mobile and functional character is reinforced by a rocker or counterweight design, which maintains the balance of the assembly even in extended positions.
One of its most distinctive features is the large adjustable reflector, generally wide and enveloping in shape, which integrates a technical diffuser - the "Solarsol" system - designed to soften the light, reduce shadows and avoid glare, generating homogeneous illumination close to natural light.
Overall, the 202 model - sometimes referred to as a "light machine" - is a paradigmatic example of 20th century work lighting: modular, adjustable and conceived as a tool rather than an ornamental object.
