DESCRIPTION

VICO MAGISTRETTI (Milan, 1920 - 2006) for Gavina.
Loden" armchair, 1961.
Lacquered wood.
Measurements: 82 x 67 x 78 cm.

Iconic armchair model Loden, designed by Vico Magistretti and produced by Gavina in 1961, an outstanding expression of post-war Italian design, in which functionality, formal balance and comfort coexist with absolute naturalness. Made with a lacquered wooden structure, it rests on four cylindrical legs that support a slightly inclined seat, designed to offer an ergonomic and relaxed posture. The seat and backrest, upholstered in fabric, add warmth and refinement to the whole. Particularly noteworthy is its unusual dark maroon upholstery, a rare variant of this model that enhances its uniqueness and appeal to collectors and design lovers. An elegant piece with a strong personality that reflects the refined and timeless language of Magistretti, ideal for interiors that seek to incorporate historic Italian design with character and authenticity.

Vico Magistretti was an Italian industrial designer, dedicated to furniture and architecture. He graduated from the Politecnico di Milano in 1945, and became a follower of Ernesto Nathan Rogers. During the 1950s he devoted himself to the design of mass-produced furniture. Some of his lamps are famous, such as the so-called Eclisse. Some of his designs are present in important museums in Europe, the United States and Japan. The MoMA in New York houses objects by Magistretti in its permanent collection.
