DESCRIPTION
STEFAN WEWERKA (Germany, 1928 - 2013).
Pair of chairs.
Black lacquered wood and seat upholstered in striped fabric.
Very good overall condition, with slight signs of use.
Measurements: 76 × 58 × 50 cm; seat height: 45 cm.
Pair of chairs designed by Stefan Wewerka, German artist, architect and designer known for his experimental approach to furniture. The pieces stand out for their asymmetrical and enveloping structure, with curved backrest and armrests with broken lines, features that transform the functional chair into an object with a strong sculptural character.
The black lacquered wood accentuates the graphic emphases of the design, while the seat upholstered in striped fabric introduces a dynamic visual counterpoint. Wewerka plays here with the tension between stability and apparent imbalance, a constant in his production, in which the furniture becomes a reflection on form, use and perception.
