DESCRIPTION
Paravent of fireplace; Catalonia, c. 1955 - 1965.
Wrought iron and glass.
Presents an illegible workshop plate.
Measurements: 71 x 83 x 18 cm.
Elegant fireplace paravent made of wrought iron and glass, with a strong sculptural presence and architectural character. It is a work of artistic ferronnerie executed in a handmade way, reflecting the excellence of iron work in Catalonia in the mid-twentieth century.
The piece presents a formal language of great expressiveness, with clear affinities to the work of Diego Giacometti and the French tradition of post-war ferronnerie d'art. Particularly noteworthy are the organically inspired upper finials and the zoomorphic legs, which lend dynamism and a marked sculptural dimension to the whole.
Within the Catalan context, this paravent is part of the artistic iron tradition linked to the Mediterranean interior design of the 1950s and 1960s, where craftsmanship and decorative design reached a high level of sophistication. It retains a small, partially illegible workshop plate, possibly "Ll. Flor", which reinforces its handcrafted character and its possible attribution to a specialized workshop. A unique piece, ideal for interiors with a sensitivity for historical design and sculptural craftsmanship.
