DESCRIPTION
Dining chair in the style of ICO PARISI (Palermo, 1916 – Como, Lombardy, 1996). Italy, 1950s.
Solid walnut.
Vintage piece. Exhibits wear consistent with age and use.
Measurements: 90 x 41 x 48 cm.
A dining chair of exceptional formal quality, representative of the finest postwar Italian organicism and closely aligned with the design language developed by Ico and Luisa Parisi from their studio, La Ruota, in Como during the 1950s. The frame is made of solid wood, with highly elegant tapered legs reinforced by a black-lacquered metal rod crossbar that introduces an industrial counterpoint characteristic of Brianza production from that period. The molded plywood seat follows an organic profile that conforms to the body’s ergonomics. The most distinctive element is the backrest, crafted as a butterfly-shaped piece of bent wood that branches out from the central axis, radiating toward the user’s shoulders with sculptural elegance and formal coherence that directly evoke the design vocabulary of this designer duo.
