Susy Gómez is a multidisciplinary artist who works in sculpture, installation, painting, drawing, video and performance, always from an autobiographical point of view. In her works, everyday objects become metaphors and invite us to reflect on the duality of social action-individual identity, art-spirituality, appealing to the position of the subject in the contemporary world.
Susy Gómez studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona and, after completing her training, held her first solo exhibition at the Norai gallery in her hometown in 1987. Six years later, in 1993, her solo exhibition at the Miró Foundation in Barcelona caused a great stir. In 1995 she took part in the ARCO fair, achieving a success that led her to be included in important group exhibitions, both national and international, such as the Salón de los 16 of the same year. Since then she has held numerous personal exhibitions, both in Spanish cities and in Turin, Athens and Nice, where she showed her work at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. In 1999 he was awarded the Endesa Scholarship, and the following year the IVAM's Centre del Carmen dedicated its first retrospective to him. In his work we can find various proposals, which continue the tradition of post-minimalism, and which at the same time are linked to the most current aesthetics.
His work can currently be found at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid); at the Artium de Álava (Vitoria); at the Institut Valencià d'Art Modern (Valencia); at the Es Baluard Museu d'Art Modern i Contemporani de Palma; at the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga; at the Murugami Hirai Museum (Tokyo); at the Col-lecció Testimoni, Fundació "la Caixa" (Barcelona); at the L'Oreal Collection and at the Musée d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain-Nice, among other important institutions.
