Paul Landowski was not only a masterful sculptor, but he is the author of one of the most iconic works in the world: the Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro. In this "David", Landowski moves away from monumental stillness to offer us an explosion of energy and dramatic tension.
Paul-Maximilien Landowski was a French sculptor of Polish origin. Winner of the prestigious Prix de Rome in 1900, his career was marked by large public commissions and commemorative monuments. His style is known as "Humanist Realism". He sought to dignify the human condition through effort, struggle and spirituality, values that this David embodies perfectly. Director of the Academy of Rome from 1933 to 1937. Member of the Academy of Fine Arts of France in the Sculpture section from 1926 to 1961.
