AFFORTUNATO GORY (1895-1925)
"Female bust".
Carrada marble.

Measurements: 60 x 30 x 30 cm.
This female bust, sculpted in Carrara marble, is the work of the French-Italian artist Affortunato Gory, a leading figure in European decorative sculpture of the early twentieth century. The piece embodies an idealized beauty, where the delicacy of the features and the softness of the volumes reveal an exceptional technical mastery, while conveying a serene and timeless elegance.
Signed "A. Gory Paris", the work refers to the sculptor's Parisian period, after his training in Florence. He spent much of his career in Paris, participating in the prestigious Salon des Artistes Français, one of the main showcases of academic and decorative art of the time. His production is distinguished by the use of noble materials such as marble, bronze or ivory and by a constant search for formal sophistication. The bust clearly reflects the influence of Art Deco, especially in its purification of lines and its ornamental vocation. Far from strict naturalism, Gory opts for an elegant stylization that emphasizes the harmony and balance of the figure.
Overall, it is a work of great aesthetic presence, where the formal purity and the quality of the material converge to create a piece of remarkable appeal.
