"Balloon Dog (Blue)" transfers to a domestic scale one of the most iconic images of Jeff Koons and contemporary sculpture: the balloon dog, emblem of celebration, desire and industrial perfection. The work reproduces in Limoges porcelain the famous typology developed by the artist within his "Celebration" series, initiated in the 1990s, where objects associated with childhood, celebration and popular culture acquire an almost classical monumentality.

The piece combines a playful appearance with a technically demanding execution. Its blue, shiny and reflective surface transforms the object into a changing presence, capable of absorbing the environment and returning it converted into an image. This specular quality is essential to Koons: the work not only represents a dog made of balloons, but makes the viewer and the surrounding space an active part of the visual experience.

The contrast between the apparent lightness of the balloon and the solidity of the porcelain intensifies the artist's characteristic ambiguity, situated between the banal and the sublime, the popular and the luxurious, the ephemeral and the permanent. In this sense, "Balloon Dog (Blue)" condenses some of the main axes of his language: formal precision, material seduction, mass culture and the transformation of the everyday object into an artistic icon.

The limited edition, signed and numbered, reinforces its interest in contemporary collecting, especially because it is one of the most recognizable versions of Koons' visual universe.

Jeff Koons is one of the most influential and sought-after figures in international contemporary art. His work explores the relationship between art, consumption, desire, childhood, celebrity and popular culture, through sculptures of impeccable industrial finish and strong visual impact. Throughout his career he has received important awards, including the French Legion of Honor, the Wollaston Prize from the Royal Academy in London and the Medal of Arts from the U.S. State Department. His work is represented in leading institutions such as MoMA in New York, the Tate in London, the Guggenheim Museums, the Whitney Museum of American Art, LACMA, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
