Andreas Schmidt is a German conceptual artist and photographer based in Berlin whose career has evolved from direct analog photography to a multidisciplinary practice focused on appropriation art, video and artist's books through print-on-demand. His work explores contemporary themes such as surveillance, consumerism and post-photography in the digital age, highlighted by projects that dialogue with the legacy of figures such as Ed Ruscha and urban monographs such as Las Vegas and The City. In addition to his creative facet, Schmidt works as a gallerist in his own space in the Wedding district, and his work has achieved international relevance by being exhibited in prestigious institutions such as the Gagosian Gallery, the Photographers' Gallery in London and the Cleveland Museum of Art.
