DESCRIPTION
Jewelry set in yellow gold, platinum, rose-cut diamonds, and carved reliefs. Italy, c. 1925. Case by Carenzio Confalonieri, Milan.
Set consisting of a rigid bracelet, a ring, and a pair of earrings, crafted in yellow gold with platinum accents and inlays, embellished with rose-cut diamonds set in chatons. Italy, circa 1925.
The set reflects a refined historicist taste, closely aligned with the Neo-Renaissance and archaeologizing styles that persisted in European jewelry during the early decades of the 20th century. The pieces combine rich goldsmithing—featuring volutes, rocaille, vegetal scrollwork, decorative granulation, and classically inspired motifs—with platinum details that provide chromatic contrast and luminosity through small rose-cut diamonds.
The bracelet, with a rigid, articulated structure, features on its front a central scene carved in relief depicting a horse-drawn chariot, framed by ornamental architecture in chiseled and openwork gold. On either side, platinum appliqués set with rose-cut diamonds reinforce the symmetry of the composition and accentuate the piece’s sumptuous character.
The matching ring features a central oval motif with a classically inspired female bust, surrounded by a rectangular, mixtilinear setting in yellow gold, platinum, and rose-cut diamonds. Its design allows it to be worn both as a standalone piece and as part of the set.
The pair of long, dangling earrings echoes the ornamental language of the set. Each earring features a carved female bust at its center, framed by openwork gold elements, scrolls, floral motifs, and platinum details set with diamonds. The vertical composition, which appears remarkably light despite its rich decoration, culminates in articulated lower pendants, adding movement and elegance.
It is preserved in its original case by Carenzio Confalonieri, Milan, with an exterior lined in blue velvet and an interior in blue silk printed with the house’s name—a detail that enhances the set’s historical and collectible value.
