Set consisting of volumes I and II of Obras de la Gloriosa Madre Santa Teresa de Jesús, Fundadora de la Reforma de la Orden de Nuestra Señora del Carmen, edition printed in Madrid in 1752, during the reign of Fernando VI. The work was published in the Mercurio Printing House by José de Orga, one of the outstanding printers of the enlightened Spain of the 18th century.

This edition brings together the main writings of Saint Teresa of Jesus, an essential figure of Christian spirituality, reformer of the Carmelite Order and one of the great authors of universal mystical literature. Her texts, profoundly influential in both religious and literary fields, combine theological reflection, spiritual autobiography and an extraordinary stylistic quality that made her one of the summits of the Spanish Golden Age.

The volumes have a two-color typographic cover in black and red, characteristic of the prestigious editions of the period, as well as intaglio engravings of remarkable quality. The antique binding and normal signs of use and aging are consistent with the age of the work and reinforce its historical and bibliographical interest.

Published in the 18th century, these editions reflect the continuing prestige of Saint Teresa within Spanish religious culture and the important role of the illustrated printing press in the dissemination of spiritual texts and classics of Castilian literature.
