MANUEL ALTOLAGUIRRE (Malaga, 1905-Burgos, 1959).
"Soledades juntas", 1st edition, 1931.
Publisher: Plutarco, Madrid.
Paperback binding with flaps. Preserves the original covers.
Measurements: 22 x 14 cm.
Published in Madrid in 1931 by Plutarco, Soledades juntas occupies a prominent place in the poetic production of Manuel Altolaguirre, one of the most delicate and personal voices of the Generation of '27. Poet, printer and publisher of exceptional sensitivity, Altolaguirre developed a work characterized by expressive purity, musicality of verse and a constant exploration of the most intimate feelings of the human being.
In this book, the author delves into some of the essential themes of his poetic universe: loneliness, love, the passage of time, memory and the search for inner harmony. Far from rhetorical excesses, his poems stand out for the apparent simplicity of their language and for a restrained emotionality that reaches a remarkable lyrical intensity. Altolaguirre's poetry is built from transparent images and a deeply human sensibility, capable of transforming personal experiences into reflections of universal scope.
Soledades juntas reflects a stage of creative maturity in the poet's career, in which the Spanish lyrical tradition and the aesthetic renovations promoted by the Generation of '27 converge. The title itself suggests one of the central paradoxes of the work: the possibility of sharing the experience of solitude and turning it into a space of spiritual and emotional encounter.
The first edition of 1931 has a special bibliographic interest as it was published at a time of extraordinary cultural effervescence in Spain, coinciding with the years of greatest literary activity of the members of the Generation of 1927. The publishing house Plutarco played an important role in the dissemination of contemporary Spanish literature, contributing to the circulation of some of the most important voices of the time.
This copy is a valuable testimony of one of the most fertile periods of Spanish poetry of the 20th century. Its status as a first edition increases its interest for collectors and bibliophiles, while the relevance of Manuel Altolaguirre as a poet and editor makes it a particularly prized item in libraries dedicated to modern Hispanic literature. Soledades juntas remains a representative work of the intimate and spiritual lyric that distinguishes the production of one of the most refined authors of his generation.
