DESCRIPTION
Swedish desk, Empire style, mid-nineteenth century.
In birch wood, ebonized keyholes.
The leather of the top shows wear.
Damage in one drawer.
Measurements: 77 x 155 x 103 cm.
Swedish writing desk, Empire style. Made of birch wood, it stands out for the warmth of its golden tone and for the refined contrast of the ebonized keyholes in the shape of small diamonds. The front has four drawers arranged symmetrically, two on each side, which reinforces the balance and harmony of the design. The stipe-shaped legs give the piece a stylized and vertical line, accentuating its severe and light elegance at the same time. The work surface is entirely covered in leather (it shows wear and tear due to the passage of time).
The set fully reflects the Scandinavian interpretation of the French Empire style: sobriety in ornamentation, clarity of form and an ideal of classical balance, where functionality coexists with refined aesthetics.
