DESCRIPTION

Important Art Nouveau "torchère" floor lamp signed Muller Frères / Lunéville and made by P. Fédy & C. Biasca. France, ca. 1905.
Wrought and cast iron; multilayer glass.
Signed: "Muller Frères / Lunéville".
Inscribed: "P. Fédy & C. Biasca / Ferronniers d'Art / Tassin-la-Demi-Lune".
Measurements: 180 x 50 x 60 cm.

Exceptional floor lamp that stands out for the combination of two relevant workshops of the French Art Nouveau: the lampshade in artistic glass signed by Muller Frères and the iron structure attributed to P. Fédy & C. Biasca, an unusual double authorship that reinforces its collector interest.
The structure has an elegant tripartite base with curved legs with scrolls and floral motifs, from which emerges a shaft of quadrangular section with a medallion decorated with a bird. The whole responds fully to the organic language of the period, with a marked sculptural character accentuated by its original patina.
The lampshade, signed Muller Frères, is made of multilayer glass in amber and ocher tones with marbled and misty effects characteristic of Lunéville's production. Its technical quality and chromatic richness generate a warm and enveloping illumination.

The firm Muller Frères / Lunéville, one of the most recognized of the French Art Nouveau glassmaking and direct heir of the circle of Émile Gallé, places the piece within a high quality production and strong demand in the market. Added to this is the intervention of P. Fédy & C. Biasca, Ferronniers d'Art in Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, a workshop specializing in high-level artistic forging, whose documented presence in the structure reinforces the exceptional character of the work as an example of collaboration between applied arts at the turn of the century.
