DESCRIPTION
Candlestick with inkwell for scribe. Indo-Persian, XIX century.
Iron.
In good condition. With patina according to its age.
Measurements: 21 x 9,5 x 17 cm.
Singular piece of hybrid use that combines the function of candlestick with that of inkwell, conceived to accompany the work of scribes in domestic or administrative contexts. The structure is articulated by means of a system of curved arms and movable elements that allow holding the ink deposit next to the light point, thus facilitating writing in poor lighting conditions.
Formally, it presents features characteristic of 19th century Indo-Persian metalwork, with a balance between functionality and decorative refinement. The arched legs and serrated profiles, which add dynamism to the whole, as well as the sober ornamentation engraved on the metal surface, stand out.
