DESCRIPTION
Set of five almireces with their respective maces. XVIII-XIX Century.
Bronze.
Exhibits wear consistent with age and use, signs and patina.
Measurements: 9 x 14 x 14 cm (the largest).
Set formed by five bronze almireces, each one accompanied by its corresponding mace. The pieces present different formats and proportions, with bodies of truncated cone or cylindrical tendency, molded bases and open mouths, following habitual models in the domestic and pharmaceutical production of the XVIII and XIX centuries.
Some examples show relief decoration, with geometric or plant-inspired motifs, while others have more sober surfaces.
The almirez was an essential piece in apothecaries and domestic environments, used to crush spices, medicinal herbs and other ingredients. In addition to their practical function, antique bronze examples are now appreciated for their decorative value, their patina and their link to historical daily life.
