Representation of the Adoration of the Magi, one of the most recurrent iconographies in the Flemish pictorial tradition. The scene is articulated around the central group of the Virgin and Child, surrounded by the Kings and their entourage, generating a dense and dynamic composition, characteristic of the Nordic Baroque.
The rich chromatism stands out, especially in the clothing, as well as the treatment of the textile qualities and the luminous effects that direct the attention towards the figure of the Child. The accumulation of characters and the variety of physiognomic types reinforce the narrative and theatrical character of the scene.
The work reflects the influence of models by Rubens and his circle, reinterpreted in a later key, within the Flemish production of the 18th century, where the taste for baroque compositions of great visual intensity survives.
