Narcisse Díaz de la Peña was a French painter of Spanish origin, associated with the Barbizon School, known above all for his landscapes of the forest of Fontainebleau, characterized by a loose brushstroke, intense colors and a strong sense of light and atmosphere as the one we now bid.
Largely self-taught and marked by a physical disability since childhood, Narcisse Diaz also cultivated orientalist themes and scenes with figures. He was commercially successful during his lifetime and played an important role in the transition from Romantic landscape painting to a freer painting that influenced the development of Impressionism.
