Copy of the baroque painting "The embrace of St. Francis of Assisi to the Crucified", work of the tenebrist painter Francisco Ribalta, preserved in the Museum of Fine Arts in Valencia. The work, painted in oil, represents St. Francis of Assisi at the moment when he embraces Christ on the cross. The scene symbolizes St. Francis' desire to share Christ's suffering and his renunciation of earthly goods. In response to this mystical union, Christ unbends an arm from the cross to place his crown of thorns on the shaven head of the saint of Assisi, while an angel, with an emotional gesture, prepares to crown the Crucified with a diadem of flowers.
