Cayetano de Arquer Buigas is a portraitist praised by the critics due to his personal interpretation of women, central theme of his work, being especially recognized his female necks. His is an intimate work, of small format, far from the monumentality practiced by other artists of his family, such as his great-uncle Carlos Buigas Sans, creator of luminous fountains and gardens all over the world, or his great-grandfather Cayetano Buigas Monravà, architect and author of the monument to Columbus in Barcelona.
