Throughout his career, Florit showed a constant interest in themes linked to modern life and spectacle, among them the world of horse racing, which he approached as a pretext to explore rhythm, color and speed. This work is part of his mature production, characterized by formal synthesis, compositional dynamism and a special sensitivity for scenes of movement.

José Luis Florit was a founding member of the group Artistas en Acción, and held several exhibitions, both individual and collective. Among them were those held at the Museum of Modern Art in Madrid (1935) and at the Venice Biennial. He also participated in the National Exhibitions of Fine Arts, obtaining a medal in 1934. He is represented in the Museum of Modern Art of Madrid.
