Fred Grothé-Mahé was a French painter active during the second half of the 20th century. His artistic output spanned a variety of subjects, including landscapes, seascapes, religious figures, clowns, and works with historical and commemorative themes. Among his best-known works is *Le Déporté* (1971), a painting commissioned by the French Resistance fighter José de Abreu to commemorate the experience of deportees in Nazi camps; this work is currently part of the collections of the Centre d’Histoire de la Résistance et de la Déportation.
Other known works include *Baie bretonne*, *Fonds marins*, *Tête de Christ*, *Silence*, and several compositions featuring clowns, which have appeared at French auctions in recent years. These pieces demonstrate an interest in landscape, spiritual themes, and expressive figures.
Although there is no widely published information regarding his training, career, or date of death, available references indicate that he was a regional French artist whose work circulated primarily in local circles and on the auction market.
