From the middle of the 20th century, this writing tool emerges: a double-ended crayon holder, made of finely carved gilded metal. Its faceted body, possibly hexagonal, reveals an aesthetic as well as functional vocation, preventing it from rolling on the table while adding an air of distinction.
At each end, an enameled band crowns it with a classic motif: the Greek fretwork, in deep blue on one side and fiery red on the other. Not only does it indicate two distinct colors, but it evokes symmetry, duality and visual balance. Although it bears no visible mark, its style is reminiscent of the fine writing objects manufactured in France or Germany between the 1920s and 1950s, when utility still went hand in hand with elegance.
