Founded during the British Mandate period in 1944, Lapid turned its attention to the manufacture of artistic ceramics in 1949 under the direction of Dr. K. Moosberg. Known for its modernist designs influenced by Scandinavian and West German ceramics of the mid-century modern era, Lapid Pottery made its artistic mark with its high quality ceramic process and use of the subtle colors of the Israeli desert in its hand-painted decoration. Lapid Pottery was in business from 1944 to 1990.
