BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Salvilla; Teruel, XVIII century.
Ceramics. Series of fluffy trees and birds.
Measurements: 23 x 4,5 cm.
Salvilla decorated with some trees and birds that are similar to other plates and albarelos of the series of sponged trees and birds. In this case the cobalt blue is used with chiaroscuro technique and shades of tonal intensity, giving volume and depth.
The ceramics of Teruel, has a great patrimonial recognition both for its quality and its historical tradition. The Teruel charter in 1176 refers to the potters known as "maestros de ollas", although the historian Llubiá indicates that the establishment of pottery workshops began with the founding of the city five years before they were mentioned in the charter. This type of pottery has stylistic influences of Muslim and Mudejar tradition, although its most representative pottery is the green and manganese type, also known as verdimorada earthenware.
