BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Bowl; Manises; XVII century.
Gilded earthenware. Series deflected leaves with themes in blue.
Presents a hair.
Measurements: 9 x 28 cm.
Bowl or zafa of golden earthenware of Manises, XVII century of round form, concave bottom, inclined wall and thickened lip. Foot of annular sill. On the obverse side it is decorated with white enamel almost beige, with ornamentation painted with brush in metallic luster ocher. In the center filled with blue the central motif of a cross formed by four arms of lobed leaves, crossed by a cross and also surrounded by "deflected leaves" that give name to the series dated at the end of the XVII century.
The lusterware will be the great art of the Nasrid period, although it was born in Almohad Spain, between the second half of the twelfth century and the first half of the thirteenth century. In later times it will have special development in Manises, where the Hispano-Muslim tradition will continue in both the technical and decorative aspects.
