BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
After GEORGES LEVY (France, 1820-1899).
"Bust of a girl".
Biscuit.
Signed.
Measurements: 55 x 31 x 19 cm.
Bust of a young girl, made in biscuit, from a sculpture by Georges Levy. The face is soft, idealized, with fine and serene features. The eyes look slightly to one side, conveying a contemplative air. The hair is worked in detail, gathered back in an elegant, wavy hairstyle, with locks that delicately frame the forehead, peeking out from under the pleated cap. The work follows the academicist and romantic taste of the 19th century, seeking idealized feminine grace, with a polished finish and refined modeling.
