The "Magnolias" lamp in tender presents a design clearly inspired by the organic forms of French Art Nouveau so characteristic of Daum, with a lampshade in art glass that evokes an open flower (similar to a tulip or a magnolia) in amber and honey tones, delicately translucent. The long stylized metal shaft is reminiscent of a plant stem and ends in a circular hammered base, decorated with a hand-worked texture that reinforces its handcrafted character. The combination of molded glass and patinated metal creates an elegant and sculptural piece, very close to the decorative universe of Daum Nancy, famous for his naturalistic creations and his extraordinary work in artistic glass in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. More than a simple luminaire, this lamp functions as a decorative object of great refinement, where botanical inspiration and artisanal savoir-faire come together in a poetic and sophisticated composition.
The Daum house, founded in Nancy in 1878 by Jean Daum, is one of the most important manufactures in the history of French art glass. Along with Gallé, was one of the great firms of Art Nouveau glass. His pieces stand out for technical experimentation, the use of multilayer glass and decoration inspired by nature, becoming fundamental references of the École de Nancy.
