In the 60's and 70's, Manises lived a period of great ceramic growth. The city was full of workshops and factories that produced tableware, tiles and decorative objects for export. Ceramics was the economic engine and an essential part of daily life.
During the 1960s, industrial and decorative production predominated, often inspired by traditional and medieval styles, combining craftsmanship with new industrial techniques.
In the 1970s an important artistic renewal began. Thanks to the influence of the School of Ceramics and artists such as Arcadi Blasco, ceramics began to approach contemporary art. More abstract forms, rough textures and works with expressive and sculptural intent appeared.
Thus, Manises went from being just an artisan and industrial production center to become also a reference of artistic innovation in the Spanish ceramics of the twentieth century.
