The scene likely depicts the moment when Abraham sends Hagar and her son Ishmael away, an episode recounted in Genesis. On the left, Sarah appears holding Isaac in her arms, while Hagar, dressed in blue, accompanies the young man kneeling before the patriarch.

The composition is constructed from irregularly shaped glass fragments joined by lead came. The faces, clothing, and landscape elements are painted with remarkable detail. The intensity of the blues, reds, and yellows, combined with the sinuous lines of the composition, links the piece to the decorative language of Modernism.
