"Female Figures", 1981.
Set of three charcoals on paper.

Trained at the San Carlos School in Valencia, the city to which her family moved when she was a child, María Dolores Casanova frequented the artistic cenacles and joined the Asociación Arte Actual, made up of painters, sculptors and young art critics. Although she never wanted to be described as a naïve painter, she was one of the most outstanding representatives of this style in Spanish painting. She is represented in Valencia City Council and in the Museo Popular de Arte Contemporáneo de Vilafamés (Castellón), as well as in several private and institutional collections.
