RAIMUNDO CASTRO-CIRES (Valladolid, 1894 - Madrid, 1970).
"Portrait of a lady.

Measurements: 43 x 38 cm; 55 x 49 cm (frame).
Spanish painter, draftsman and mosaicist, Raimundo Castro-Cires was trained at the Industrial School of Valladolid, and later studied at the School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving. He was a disciple of Muñoz Degrain, who, however, had no influence on his landscapes. His first great success was that of the National Museum of Modern Art in Madrid in 1927. Throughout his career as an artist he exhibited in Spain, Italy, Mexico and Argentina. He painted both portraits and genre subjects of people of the sea and the countryside, as well as landscapes especially Castilian (although also Andalusian, Basque, Cantabrian, Asturian or Valencian).
