Child portrait in which only the face of the protagonist can be seen. The piece stands out for the detail of the features of the face, unlike the neck that is only outlined through several quick strokes.
During the 18th century, the child portrait acquired a significant value in Italian painting, closely related to the pedagogical, social and cultural ideals of the time. In the context of Italian unification and the consolidation of a national identity. The child portrait became a vehicle for conveying ideals of innocence, purity and hope, but also of discipline and social belonging.
