Ramon Rogent was an outstanding Catalan painter, illustrator and engraver whose artistic career developed throughout the 20th century. He began his pictorial training during the years of the Spanish Civil War, encouraged by Rafael Llimona, a key figure in his early orientation towards the visual arts. Between 1938 and 1939 he lived in France, a stay that allowed him to come into contact with European artistic currents that would influence his stylistic evolution.
On his return to Spain, he held his first individual exhibition in Madrid in 1941, and the following year he presented his work in Barcelona, thus consolidating his presence in the national art scene. His international projection did not take long to develop, with exhibitions in cities such as Paris, London, Milan, Pittsburgh and various locations in Portugal, demonstrating the extent of his recognition beyond the Iberian context.
In Barcelona, Rogent was an active member of the Lais group, an artistic collective committed to plastic renewal in the post-war context. He participated regularly in the Salones de Octubre, fundamental events for Catalan art at the time, and also took part in the Salon de Mayo in the 1957 and 1958 editions, key meetings for the debate and projection of contemporary art.
His work, of great formal and expressive sensitivity, covers different technical and thematic registers, reflecting a constant search for balance between tradition and modernity. Today, his pieces are represented in important public and private collections, such as the Lisbon Museum and the Vila Casas Foundation, which confirms the validity and heritage value of his artistic legacy.
