The image represents a forceful visual criticism to the structures of power and the devastating effects of the war, carried out with a graphic style that remembers the expressionist and satirical art of the beginning of the 20th century. At the center of the composition stands out a corpulent, monarchical-looking character, dressed in an ornate cape, decorations and a crown, whose haughty and carefree attitude contrasts violently with the chaos that surrounds him. This figure, enclosed within a frame that separates him visually and symbolically from the rest of the scene, appears surrounded by symbols of the arbitrary power and cynicism with which the elites rule: at his feet are scattered playing cards, some bloody and others marked with sinister images, such as skulls and symbols of war, which alludes to the idea that war and human life are, for him, a game of chance controlled from his position of privilege.
