Painter and engraver, Jose Pedraza Ostos was formed in the school of Fine Arts. His teachers were Eduardo Cano, Fernando Tirado and Francisco Narbona. José Jiménez Aranda taught him to engrave. Admirer of Goya, he moved to Madrid in 1901, and began to work with etchings, being one of the few Sevillian artists dedicated to this technique. He did not give up other techniques and would continue in those years to develop works in oil and watercolor. In 1927 he inaugurated in the Pavilion of Ancient Art of Seville. Recognized in the world of etching, his works led him to win numerous awards in various competitions. Some of his works even served as illustrations for important national magazines.
