This drawing, made from the model created by Céline Martin (1869-1959) -Sor Genoveva de la Santa Faz-, preserves the spiritual and affective essence that characterizes the original work. The piece reproduces the serenity of the line and the devotional atmosphere typical of Céline, who, from her cloistered life, developed an intimate and deeply contemplative visual language.
Céline Martin (1869-1959), known in religion as Sister Genoveva de la Santa Faz, was a French artist, photographer and Carmelite nun. Sister of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, she was part of the famous "Martin clan", whose profound spiritual life marked the history of Carmel. She entered the convent of Lisieux in 1894, where she developed an intense artistic work: she portrayed her sister Therese, illustrated scenes of convent life and created drawings and photographs that today constitute an invaluable visual archive.
