NOEL DORVILLE (Mercurey, 1874 - Cosne-sur-Loire, 1938).

Measurements: 52 x 40 cm; 76 x 64 cm (frame).
French painter known for his caricatures and newspaper posters. He made numerous portraits of contemporary French politicians and writers. Dorville made sketches during the trial of Alfred Dreyfus in 1899. And he attended the Paris Peace Conference in 1919 as a journalist, where he made intimate drawings of participants such as Woodrow Wilson, David Lloyd George and Georges Clemenceau. He was a frequent contributor to L'Assiette au beurre.
