A student of Ramón Nadal, Miquel Llabrés specialized in landscape painting, creating works that are highly evocative and contemplative. He inaugurated the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Balaguer and founded the Galería Bearn in Palma. In 1980, he was named a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Sebastián. The artist’s extensive body of work can be divided into different periods: the so-called “French Grays” period (1958–1966), developed during his travels to Paris and Bordeaux; the “Castile” period (1967–1970), featuring works from Toledo, Ávila, and Burgos; and the so-called “whites” period (1973–1982), with landscapes of Ibiza, Menorca, and Mallorca. Among the awards he received are the Medal of Honor from the Autumn Salon in Palma in 1961 and 1969, and the third-place medal from the Autumn Salon in Madrid in 1966.
