This watercolor showcases Luis Feito’s most lyrical and refined style, focused on the expansion of color across the paper. The composition is organized around a large, open, and dynamic orange form, overlaid with translucent layers of red, violet, and ochre.

The artist takes advantage of the fluidity of watercolor to create glazes, blurred edges, and areas of negative space that bring out the white of the paper.

Luis Feito was a key figure in postwar Spanish abstraction and a founding member of the El Paso group in 1957. Trained at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts, he lived for years in Paris, where he came into contact with European Informalism.

His work is represented in the Reina Sofía Museum, the Museum of Spanish Abstract Art in Cuenca, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Centre Pompidou, and other international collections.
