This set consists of four caricature-style drawings that highlight Eduardo Úrculo’s skill as an illustrator and draftsman. The artist contributed to various publications, including *Auto Revista*, where he developed a highly fluid visual language characterized by irony, humor, and the ability to distill complex ideas into simple forms. These works reveal some of the traits that would later define his artistic output, demonstrating the solid mastery of drawing that underpinned his entire career.
Eduardo Úrculo was one of the leading figures of Pop Art in Spain. Self-taught in his early years, he began his artistic career by publishing illustrations in *La Nueva España* and completed his training at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid and the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. After discovering American Pop Art during a trip through Northern Europe in 1967, he developed his own artistic language characterized by irony, color, and a distinct urban iconography. In the 1980s, he lived in New York, and since 1992, in Paris, where he incorporated the figure of the traveler into his work as a symbol of modernity and displacement. His work has been the subject of numerous international exhibitions and retrospectives, and today it is part of major museums and collections, including the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna in Rome, and various contemporary art museums in Spain and Latin America.
