BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
VICO MAGISTRETTI (Milan, 1920 - 2006) for Cassina.
Dining table "Carimate" . 1959.
Red lacquered beech wood and bulrush.
Measurements: 75 cm. height;, 85 cm. width: 85 cm depth.
Elegant coffee table from the "Carimate" series, designed by Vico Magistretti and manufactured by Cassina in Italy in 1959. The rounded details of the legs and corners of the table give it a unique lightness and fluidity. The design is simple and sophisticated at the same time, thanks to the careful attention to the finishes and the ability to essentialize the shapes without sacrificing anything. The red-stained wood of the legs matches the natural wood with a beautiful grain of the top.
Vico Magistretti was an Italian industrial designer, dedicated to furniture and architecture. He graduated from the Politecnico di Milano in 1945, and became a follower of Ernesto Nathan Rogers. During the 1950s he devoted himself to the design of mass-produced furniture. Some of his lamps are famous, such as the so-called Eclisse. Some of his designs are present in important museums in Europe, the United States and Japan. The MoMA in New York houses objects by Magistretti in its permanent collection.
