BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

PAOLO BUFFA (Milan, 1903-1970).
Pair of armchairs, 1960.
Wood upholstered in fabric.
In perfect condition. Professionally restored.
Measurements: 90 x 65 x 71 cm (x2).
Pair of Italian Mid-Century armchairs designed by Paolo Buffa made in 1960, with wood core and ivory fabric upholstery. The works of Paolo Buffa stand out for the perfection of execution and the neoclassical influence on his style, which the designer acquired during his training at Gio Ponti's studio throughout the 1920s. The solid and elegant lines that characterize his furniture seem to emulate a continuity between the 19th and 20th centuries.
His most frequent collaboration was with the historic Milanese furniture factory Quarti, with whom he designed several public and private projects for prestigious clients, such as the decoration of the yacht Mahroussa for King Farouk of Egypt in 1951. In the 1960s, the designer collaborated with the great Italian manufacturer Cassina.
