Franco Albini (1905-1977) was an Italian architect and designer, famous for his ability to fuse minimalist modern furniture design with traditional Italian craftsmanship. Through his work he won three Compasso D'Oro awards, the most prestigious Italian design award. From 1951, Franco Albini became a business partner of Franca Helg (1920-1989), and from this point Franca played a crucial role in numerous Franco Albini designs. Franco and Franca were active in both furniture, architectural planning and industrial design. Together they designed many creations in the new forms of modernism.
