FEDERICO CORREA (1924-2020) & ALFONSO MILÁ (1924-2009).
Dining table "Reno", 1960s.
Solid ukola wood.
Designed in 1961 for the Reno restaurant in Barcelona and produced by Gres.
Measurements: 73 x 135 x 135 cm.
Table made of solid ukola wood, with a circular base on which is supported a single cylindrical structure leg. The piece ends in a circular top. The iconic "Reno" dining table was designed in 1961 by Spanish architects Federico Correa and Alfonso Milá for the Reno restaurant in Barcelona and produced by Gres.
Tropical wood brings tremendous warmth, texture and nobility to the design. It celebrates the grain and feel of the material, making the piece modern yet welcoming.
The design of this table is a master class in warm rationalism and functional elegance. It fully belongs to the Modern Movement, but with a distinctly Mediterranean tinge.
The tandem of Catalan architects Federico Correa and Alfonso Milá, both born in 1924, were one of the most prominent references of the Modern Movement in the second half of the 20th century. Correa and Milá followed the slogan that interior and industrial design were part of the same architectural project. Collaborators of José Antonio Coderch, they founded their own studio in 1953. They designed summer houses in Cadaqués, institutional and residential buildings, sports stadiums, factories and offices, interior design for the legendary restaurants FlashFlash and Il Giardinetto, and they designed iconic pieces for their own projects and for furniture companies such as Gres.
